The Forum of Education in Information Systems (FESI) aims to promote the discussion about information systems training in undergraduate and graduate studies in Brazil. FESI is held alongside the SBSI, whenever aspects relevant to IS academic education need to be discussed with the IS community in Brazil.
In 2017, the Board of Education of SBC concluded academic education Guidelines for Computing Undergraduate Courses in Brazil, including the academic education Guidelines for the bachelor degree in Information Systems. The elaboration of the Guidelines for the Bachelor courses in Information Systems was carried out during 2 years, through intense participation of the Information Systems community, gathered in events organized by the Special Commission on Information Systems - SBSI, FESI and Regional Schools - and during the Congress of the Computational Brazilian Society.
We believe that the launch of the Guidelines by the SBC has led IS courses in Brazil to reflect on their degree objectives, on the competencies to be developed by their graduates and on the composition of their Pedagogical Course Projects.
In the second semester of 2017, the Board of Education of the SBC assumed a new work goal that deals with the discussion of Post-Graduation in Computing in Brazil.
V FESI is an initiative of the Educational Commission of SBC and the Special Commission on Information Systems and aims to bring together course coordinators, professors and students to:
If you are a course coordinator, student or undergraduate or graduate professor in IS, participate in V FESI and contribute to the discussions and your experiences. You will be contributing to the definition of IS education strategies in the country.
Details about the schedule coming soon.

Presentation
Minicourses are short events that aim to present an overview of a topic of research or technology that is of interest to the Information Systems community, so that the listener has the opportunity to learn about a new subject related to their area of expertise and also to extract elements to be applied in their research and/or practice.
We invite the community to propose minicourses for the fourteenth edition of the Brazilian Symposium on Information Systems (SBSI 2018). Minicourses may be introductory or advanced, and should be related to topics of interest to the symposium.
Scope and Target Audience
The minicourses to be presented at SBSI 2018 are targeted to undergraduate (preferably) and graduate students, as well as industry professionals, and can cover both concepts and key aspects (introductory minicourses) and emerging technologies (advanced minicourses) in Information Systems. The minicourses should be related to the topics of interest to the symposium, and preference will be given to minicourses in the theme of SBSI 2018: Information Systems, Business and People. Preference will also be given to minicourses with a more practical character, which in their proposals highlights strategies to make them more dynamic and to conduct interaction between instructors and students. The objective is to avoid minicourses based only on expository strategies.
Submission of Proposals
Minicourse proposals should be submitted electronically via the "SBSI 2018 - Minicursos" Track on the JEMS platform.
The submission of minicourses will take place in two phases. In the first phase, a minicourse proposal should be submitted for evaluation and, in the second phase, the content of the minicourse should be submitted (text and slides).
Format
In the first phase, the minicourse proposal must be written in Portuguese or English and have a maximum of 4 pages (SBC article format), including the following information:
Each minicourse selected should have as a final version a text that will be published as a chapter of an online book, in the format of SBC articles: from 20 to 30 pages, for mini-courses lasting four hours; or 30 to 40 pages for eight hour courses. Chapters in Portuguese should also contain the title and abstract in english. Authors should authorize the publication of the minicourse abstract on the event website. The presentation of each minicourse will be divided into two hour sessions. The slides will be available on digital media along with the Annals of the event and/or on the website.
Traditionally, SBSI has managed to finance the transportation (within Brazil) and provide accommodation for one of the authors of accepted minicourses. The organization will try to offer this support again in this edition, although it is initially the responsibility of the proposing authors to guarantee their registration and attendance to the event.
