To be able to defend the Master's Dissertation, the student must have completed, at least, 24 credits - 10 credits of mandatory disciplines and 14 credits of elective disciplines. Disciplines from other graduate programs at UCS can also be taken and fully utilized as elective disciplines.
To be approved in a discipline, seminar or other academic activity developed in the Program, including the dissertation, the student must obtain a grade equal to or greater than 6 (six) and a minimum attendance of 75% to the scheduled activities. The student's progress evaluation in each discipline will be made by the respective professor, based on the program syllabus.
The student must take the dissertation qualification exam within 6 (six) months before the defense, by presenting the partial results of their work before the Examining Committee.
The final student approval depends on the defense and approval of the dissertation and on meeting the following conditions:
The examining board will consist of the advisor, two professors from the institution, and an external member. The evaluation of the dissertation could also be done in writing by the members of the examining board, after receiving it by e-mail and post.
As a substitute for the dissertation, the Professional Master's allows the presentation and defense of productions with different formats in a public session as proof of the students qualification. Among the possible formats of productions to be accepted, the presentation of patent properties, registrations is encouraged; development of didactic and instructional material; social technology development; elaboration of a technical operations manual, management processes, computer programs, or publication of an article in a technical magazine, among others.
